We are a small publishing company based in Wales, UK; established to publish books that are innovative and alternative without compromising on a quality reading experience.
Opening Chapter publishes in two ways:
Traditionally
A book designed and prepared for a traditional print run. After we select a book for publication we work with the author, editing the book and designing the cover.
The manuscript and the cover are delivered to the printer in elecronic PDF files. The printer prints a proof copy which is checked thoroughly and then, after any amendments the required number of copies is printed. Because of the economics of traditional print production this takes a considerable financial investment, but we get a lot of books.
POD - Print on Demand
New printing technology means that books can be printed in small quantities - as little as just one copy. There is a small initial charge from the printing company and the unit cost per book is much higher.
The rest of the process is the same whether printing is done traditionally or through POD.
At present only two of our titles are printed this way - The Three Bears and The Walker, but we will move to traditional printing on these soon because of increasing demand.
See-Through
We aim to be as transparent as possible in our dealings with our writers and with our readers.
